New Works in the Pipeline

I’m looking forward to a busy few months writing a bunch of new works!

I will be a participant composer in this year’s Etchings Festival which will take place in July in Auvillar near Toulouse, France. I get the chance to write a new work for the festival where it will be workshopped and premiered. I’m looking forward to working with the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble as well as mentors Beat Furrer and Garth Knox.

Next up will be a piece for Australian saxophonist Ben Carey and the joint forces of Ensemble Proxima Centauri and Ensemble Linea. This piece will resemble a saxophone concerto where the soloist is combined with a variety of different instrumental groupings from the orchestra. It will be great to work with Ben on this piece and we are both excited for the premiere at the World Saxophone Congress next year in Strasbourg, France.

I’ve worked with Australian recorder player Alicia Crossley a few times in the past and am excited to be working on a new piece for her and American harpist Emily Granger. This duet will be premiered in 2015.

Sketches are also underway for a new trio for bass recorder, saxophone and percussion as part of an ongoing project of new Australian music, Sideband.
