Here’s a bit of background on the Sideband project:
Sideband began as a recording project initiated by emerging Australian composers Tristan Coelho, Brad Gill and Peter McNamara and has evolved into a composer-performer collective with an aim to stimulate innovative new repertoire for our ensemble whilst fostering a commitment to developing these works through dynamic recordings, premieres and repeat performances. We also aim to present significant works by established but less performed Australian composers. This, our first recording project spanning 2012-13, features works of Coelho, Gill and McNamara as well as emerging composer Chris Williams and the esteemed Slovenian-Australian composer Božidar Kos. These powerful yet intimate mixed chamber works emphasise percussion and vocal elements and are performed by some of Australia’s most talented, established and emerging artists. Two of these performers, Alicia Crossley and Nicole Thomson, along with composer/performer Brad Gill form the core Sideband ensemble.
Special thanks must be given to Holly Philip for the gorgeous logo and CD designs and Anne Keats at Wirripang who designed the booklet.
