What an absolute joy and privilege it was to conduct my new work, Silhouette on the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall stage. This work, written especially for students of MLC School, Sydney, was the product of many months of work involving composing and rehearsing. All students in Years 5-12 performed beautifully together in song with full orchestra. It was wonderful to have First Nations poet Laniyuk in the audience. Her poem became the lyrics for the song, and through our collaboration and extended conversations, I was able to delve deeper into the exquisite detail and imagery of the text. This was fundamental in helping me shape the musical world.
A massive congratulations to all students and music staff at MLC School, Sydney!
